Food Safety
Wada Farms is dedicated to
growing and shipping high quality Idaho potato products that exceed our
customers' expectations for food safety. Because we grow virtually
all of our own potatoes on our own farm lands; Wada farms is able to
carefully manage the quality of all inputs into our growing and shipping
operations. We have a true "Stem to Stern" managed food safety
program.
- We have
all of our own-grown and contracted raw product potatoes tested by 3rd party, independent
laboratories to ensure that our product is free of detectable levels of
pesticide and herbicide residues.
- We use
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Sustainable Agricultural techniques
which greatly reduces the use of pesticides and chemicals.
- We rotate
crops and test soils to reduce soil pest populations and chemical use.
- We
closely monitor disease development in our fields to ensure that
chemical spraying is done only when necessary.
- We employ
in-house and consulting agronomists and crop consultants to administer
and manage GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) on our farms. We
maintain an aggressive, highly selective certified seed evaluation
process, utilizing our in-house lab and third party
laboratories. We have complete traceability of our potato products
back to the farm and field, and how the crop was grown.
All company farms are ranch-audited and certified by Primus Labs for GAP's (Good Quality
Practices) and food safety.
Shipping
- Wada
aggressively promotes food safety in our packing/shipping
operations. We incorporate the principles of HAACP (Hazard
Analysis Critical Control Points) and third party Inspectors as part of
a total quality assurance program.
- We adhere
to strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and have consistently
received "Superior" ratings from AIB (American Institute of Baking) and
Primus labs for sanitation and food safety excellence.
